It’s a lot easier to pleat the dough over the filling when you don’t have to hold the whole bun in your hand while you pleat.

Yes, best to knead all the air bubbles out after the 1st proofing to avoid the bubbles.

It’s so nice smooth fluffy pliable so so SO easy to work with. Came out lovely (I kneaded with my hands and it came out a little bubbly but I’m certain that was me not working it enough)

Thank you for the great recipe. My son wanted Bao for a very long time and 15 min kneading time was daunting for me. So got a new mixer and tried this recipe first. It came out good and everything was perfect. We replaced pork with chicken. This will be our new go to recipe. Thanks again.

This dough is chewy, and the steamed BBQ bun dough is more fluffy, see how you like it :-)

Yes, you can. You can try our ginger carrot buns for the pan-frying method.

I was also wondering if one of the recipes could be adapted the pan fry the buns instead of steaming them?

I was wondering what the main differences are? The doughs are pretty similar and the filling is similar, but I’m guessing they’re not the same.
