Over the years several volunteer auxiliaries have been founded to assist in raising funds for the Sacramento Children's Home and have become an integral part of the services involved with the Home. Founded in 1973, the Los Ninos Service League has operated Casa Garden Restaurant to provide ongoing financial and moral support to the children and families served by the Sacramento Children's Home.

The Casa Garden Restaurant is staffed entirely by volunteers, except for a professional kitchen manager and attendant personnel:

• Food is planned and prepared by volunteers.
• Dining room is staffed by volunteer servers and hostesses.
• Gardens are planted and maintained by volunteers.

There are nearly 300 of these dedicated individuals, all of whom are active members of the Los Ninos Service League. In its 35+ year existence, nearly $2.6 million has been raised for the Sacramento Children's Home.

Membership in Los Ninos Service League is unique because it offers diverse volunteer opportunites. Both men and women are encouraged to volunteer and support the Sacramento Children's Home.

Kitchen Crew Volunteers

Kitchen crew volunteers are responsible for preparing food. They arrive early at 8:30 a.m. and start the day's food preparation. Other shifts come in at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. to prepare the food and serve it. The kitchen crew is supervised by a professional restaurant manager and executive chef.

Servers

Servers arrive at 9:30 a.m. to help set up the dining room. A daily dining room manager arranges the seating plan and acts as dining room hostess. There's always time for a cup of coffee before the lunch guests arrive. Servers wear a uniform.

Wine Servers

Wine servers provide wine service and lend a helping hand on occasion, in the dining room and kitchen.

Cashiers

Cashiers handle daily receipts and record transactions.

Gardeners

Gardeners keep our garden beautiful by planting, pruning, and planning for next season's blooms.

Weekend Workers

Weekend workers may help prepare food for special events or serve the food and act as hostesses. Shifts vary from two to five hours, depending upon the event and the volunteer's time.
